Flore flies full UK Flag range

The Commonwealth Flag Project has taken the opportunity afforded to it by last years registrations of flags for the county of Northamptonshire and the province of Mercia to fly the flag of every layer of identity applicable to its host village of Flore together at the same time. This has resulted in a magnificent display, side-by-side of the flags of Flore, Northamptonshire, Mercia, England, Britain, Europe, Commonwealth & UN

This is the first time to the Flag Institute’s knowledge that community, county, province, nation, country, continent, commonwealth and world flags have ever been flown together like this for a place in the UK. Only a couple of communities in the UK have such a full range of flags available to them. The Flag Institute commends the Commonwealth Flag Project and the Flore Community for the display.

The display of flags has been well received as both a visual spectacle but also making people think about the world they are in and how they connect to it. This has been a wonderful example of the beauty and power of flags not only individually but also how this can be heightened further when used in combination
