Notes: | The St Anne’s-on-the-Sea Flag is a community flag proclaiming the unique identity of this Lancashire town. The golden waves on deep blue represent St Anne’s famous sandy beach, sea views, and backdrop of sand dunes. The white lifeboat displayed towards the hoist represents the ‘Laura Janet’, lost in the biggest disaster in RNLI history. Thus it represents the town’s maritime heritage as well as the bravery and sacrifice of its citizens. Siting the boat towards the hoist recalls the area’s original name, ‘West End’. It formed the western part of the ancient parish of Lytham before becoming a separate parish in the late 19th century. |
