After a competition run by BBC Radio Coventry & Warwickshire, a ceremony on 7 December unveiled the new Coventry Flag.
The winning design features famous local heroine Lady Godiva, representing Coventry’s ancient history and strong principles.
Godiva appears on a white stripe evoking the road to peace, and thus the city’s modern history.
On either side are stripes of iconic Coventry Blue referencing the city’s textile heritage and sporting colours.
Communities Vexillologist Philip Tibbetts said, ‘The winning design could really be for nowhere other than the great city of Coventry. Showcasing its famous colours, industry and of course the legendary principles of its people.’
