Trafalgar Flags

The following is a release from the National Maritime Museum.

The National Maritime Museum has the rare and exciting opportunity to acquire two surviving flags from the Battle of Trafalgar. The first is a Union Flag, flown from HMS Minotaur and the second is an Austrian Ensign believed to have come from the Neptuno – captured by Minotaur and Spartiate at Trafalgar.

The museum has launched an appeal to raise the funds to purchase the flags for £175,000 and to display them at the museum in the new flagship gallery Nelson, Navy, Nation, opening on Trafalgar Day 2013.

Please help the museum to secure the future of these outstanding national treasures and make a contribution to the museum’s appeal.
