Notes: | The Westmorland Flag is a community flag proclaiming the unique identity of this historic English county. The Flag consists of a golden heraldic apple tree (for Appleby) on white and red bars (for Kendal). The design is based on the shield from the coat of arms of the former Westmorland County Council. This coat of arms was granted by the College of Arms in 1926 and used by the council until its demise in 1974. |
