The biennial International Congress of Vexillology (ICV) first took place in 1965, and the Flag Institute has hosted four subsequent editions.

Hosted by the Société française de vexillologie (SFV), ICV31 will take place in Paris, 6–11 July 2026, and booking is now open.
Each congress has a different host, appointed since 1969 by the Fédération internationale des assocations vexillologiques (FIAV).
